  3. I am excited to use many of the HLPs. I am going to start using the CCD, four corners vocabulary, more exit slips, and chants in September.

I would like to see the knowledge rating scale used so I can adapt it for my classroom.

  4. The one that I think I might try is the "New Words", becuase my students all struggle with vocabulary.

The one I would more information would be a 10 to 2...still not sure what that this.

  5. A high leverage practice that I will be using in the Fall will be the sticks with names on them to use for random and also for "perceived randomness." These will also help me to make sure I chose on people randomly, not favor one side of the room over the other or one gender over the other.

Honestly I have reached my threshhold for information. I couldn't absorb one more molecule of information.

  6. Actually, I can see myself using several: 10-2, Exit Slips and Activ Votes.

I feel comfortable the ones I listed above.

  7. I will incorporate the following into my instruction right away:
    Active votes
I used to think, but now I...
    Knowledge Rating Scale
    Frayer Model

I will ease in these others as I get more information:
    Cognitive Content Dictionary
    Four square vocab

  8. I'm ready to use teams and testubes (thanks to our lovely instructors and their cute gift of numbered plastic testubes). I will also be working on a way to use the cognitive content dictionary in class (need to use time and space wisely). I want to use generative sentences, give one get one, activexpressions, find someone who and exit slips, as well.

I feel like I know enough about the HLPs that have been presented and will have to look in the book with 75 other methods to see if there are other HLPs I want to use in my classes.

  9. I have really enjoyed learning about HLP's. There are several that I would like to incorporate this year. I particularly like and plan to use: Numbered Spoons, Card Sort, the Frayer Model and the Cognitive Content Dictionary.
I would like to see Generative Sentences being used in a science classroom in order to feel more confortable using it myself.

  10. I've had some ideas for using exit slips that will keep kids focusing on our big ideas...I collect them as the kids go out and put a few under the document camera the following day.. They might make a fun sort too.

  11. I really like the headed spoons. Great way to keep everyone engaged which is awesome. Also a big fan of the exit cards or temperature cards. They are a great way to check in.

I would like to see more songs and raps :)

  12. Observation charts will be used in September in my room. It's a great way to start units. There are others I can see used as well when appropriate (especially when I can steal what others have made) like the chants. I'm really excited about the activexpressions and hope to use them often. I'm not sure I know yet what I'd like to see more of but I'm positive as I try them with kids I will definitely have questions and need someone to collaborate with.

  13. I look forward to using Activexpression to obtain student feedback. I would like to learn more about the features of Activinspire but need time to integrate what I have learned first.

  14. I'll be using Activexpressions, give 1 get 1, and the numbered spoons when I get back to work in September.

I think the more we see, the more we have in our "bag o' tricks" to pick from when we get back to work.
